New Works by Abstract Expressionist Jason Craighead Featured in Bucks Gallery of Fine Art Exhibit
Pennsylvania gallery serves up "Significant & Sizable" in special holiday show.
Newtown, PA, November 30, 2007 --(PR.com)-- New work by Raleigh artist Jason Craighead is featured in an exhibit at Bucks Gallery of Fine Art in Newtown, Pennsylvania, entitled “Significant & Sizable.” The opening reception takes place Saturday, December 1. The show will run through January 17, 2008.
According to the gallery, this group exhibit spans two floors: a collection of larger, non-objective paintings by Craighead, Cynthia Groya, Luis Bujalance, Mike Hale, and others join sculpture by Belgium artist Jan Desmartes in the upper gallery; the lower gallery features smaller, more intimate works by gallery artists for holiday collecting.
Jason Craighead, 36, is an abstract expressionist best known for his large-scale canvases that combine acrylic, oil pastel, and graphite in multiple layers of color, lines, and drips. In his most recent work, all but random segments of color and line are “painted out” behind thin white pigment, evoking a sense of peering through a veil to discover what lies within. The spontaneous marks on the canvas are often inspired by elements of the urban landscape.
Located in Bucks County in the heart of historic Newtown Borough, Bucks Gallery of Fine Art showcases traditional and modern painters and sculptors throughout the two floors of its art deco building. In addition to exhibiting its permanent collection of regional artists, the gallery also specializes in international art.
Jason Craighead is also represented by Somerhill Gallery in Chapel Hill, Broadhurst Gallery in Pinehurst, New Elements Gallery in Wilmington, and Anne Irwin Fine Art in Atlanta, Georgia.
Bucks Gallery of Fine Art is located at 201 S. State Street, Newtown, PA. For more information on the Sizable & Significant exhibit or the gallery, visit http://www.bucksgalleryoffinearat.com.
