NSC Students Visit Glyndŵr University
Oswestry, United Kingdom, July 03, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Students completing their Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in IT from the Oswestry Campus of North Shropshire College (NSC) and their lecturer, Colin Taylor, visited the Department of Computing of Glyndŵr University in Wrexham. The group visited the University to see what options are available in Computing at Degree Level. Last year a number of students from NSC progressed to Degree courses at Glyndŵr after completing the Extended Diploma in IT.
During the visit, the students had the opportunity to use the latest developer version of the Oculus Rift in a games setting and discussed its use in commercial and medical applications, the students also visited the Robot Lab to explore the possibilities robotics present. One of the more memorable visits was to the University’s Immersive Dome, the Dome is a 360° device that allows programmers to present the real world or computer-generated imagery (CGI) or a mixture of the two, the students investigated the Domes use in education and other settings.
Colin Taylor, IT Lecturer at NSC, commented, "I wanted to show my students the many different flavours of Computing Degree Courses, so they can make an informed decision of their choices after College. Many graduates, who complete a Degree Course in Computing, find employment within 3 months of graduating."
There is still time to apply for IT qualifications starting in September. For more information, please call the College Admissions Team on 01691 688080 or email admissions@nsc.ac.uk. You can also apply online at www.nsc.ac.uk.
