Chestnut Square and Munzee Team Up for a Unique Tour Experience
McKinney, TX, July 04, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Munzee, Located in downtown McKinney but the leader in global scavenger hunts, has partnered with the Heritage Guild of Collin County to provide visitors to Chestnut Square Historic Village a unique tour experience.
Previously, tours were limited to scheduled times when staff or docents were made available. This new option can be done anytime – it’s not limited to Visitor Center hours. It’s a private tour, literally 24/7.
Not only is this option convenient, it provides an additional element of fun. “Munzee gives Chestnut Square the ability to offer you an audio tour and historical scavenger hunt in one,” explains Leisha Phipps, Curator.
The necessary information is posted on every building. The free Munzee app, or any QR scanner you can download on your phone, provides you access to the tour. It’s a great way to hear the fascinating history of McKinney, the buildings of Chestnut Square, and enjoy a leisurely stroll around the beautiful property. You can begin and end at any building.
“We are so grateful to the staff at Munzee for helping us deliver the gift of history in a 21st century method. They put untold hours of work into this project, as did our staff and many volunteers,” said Jaymie Pedigo, Executive Director. “It is so rewarding to see a huge project like this come to fruition. As a charitable organization with a limited budget, we could never have taken on a project like this without this partnership. It is our goal to expose more people to the treasure that is Chestnut Square, and while the experience is entirely free, we are always appreciative of donations. We can’t wait to see what else this team can put together!”
The Heritage Guild of Collin County, a 501(c)(3) organization, owns and manages the Chestnut Square Historic Village. The programs and events, including the Farmers Market, Prairie Adventure Camp, The Legends of McKinney Ghost Walk, and the Holiday Tour of Homes support the mission: Celebrating Community, Preserving History and Inspiring the Future.
