New Haven Moving Equipment Announces Its Upcoming 105th Year Anniversary
New Haven Moving Equipment, the nation’s premier manufacturer and distributor of corrugated, packaging and moving equipment, is excited to announce its 105th year anniversary–a milestone anniversary in the industry.
East Rutherford, NJ, July 05, 2015 --(PR.com)-- New Haven’s long legacy of engineering innovations, manufacturing and distribution in the corrugated, packaging and moving equipment industry “has a very patriotic beginning,” explains Larry Levine, President of New Haven, who, together with brothers Roger Levine (President) and James Levine (CEO) manage the family business. “New Haven was founded by our grandfather, David H. Levine, who initially conceived of the company while serving in the American Expeditionary Forces in WWI. He was moved by the sight of the HMS Dreadnaught, England’s now-legendary battleship, and made the decision that if he were to survive the war–he had just seen combat at Belleau Wood-he would develop his small business of manufacturing comforters and textiles into something more substantial and lasting.” New Haven’s distinctive logo, a silhouette of the HMS Dreadnaught, came into being at that time. “Grandfather felt that creating a logo of the Dreadnaught would serve to remind him and all those would come to work at Newhaven-usa.com, that service and integrity need to be at the heart of what we do. He viewed dedication and service to one’s customers to be an extension of service to one’s country, and that everything we manufactured, invented or distributed must be done with the integrity, pride and presence symbolized by the Dreadnaught and the valiant soldiers he served with.”
Given the company’s patriotic beginnings, it is not surprising that David H. Levine stepped into gear during the depression and WWII to help wherever he could. “Grandfather saw a huge need to help develop infrastructure, and so New Haven put its efforts into producing concrete curing mats for roads,” says Roger Levine, then adding “During WWII, he then used his experience in textiles to produce not only many of our country’s famous green G.I. blankets but also camouflage nets used in both theaters of war.” David H. Levine continued his efforts towards servicing the moving industry as well, inventing and manufacturing the first machine-made furniture pad ever made in the United States.
In the 1960’s, David H. Levine turned the management of New Haven to his son, J. Paul Levine. “Our dad, J. Paul Levine, had the same devotion to country and service as our grandfather,” reflects James Levine. “He served in the United States Air Force as a young man and worked on the development of the F101 jet fighter plane. It therefore meant a lot to him to later be the very first supplier ever awarded ‘The Distinguished Service Award’ by the American Moving and Storage Association. Our dad knew Grandfather David H. would have been proud.” Paul, along with his wife Deanie, expanded the product line of the company dramatically. In addition to producing furniture moving pads and two and four wheel dollies, products that had become standard during the years of David H. Levine, Paul began to manufacture and distribute innovative products for the aeronautics and entertainment industries while augmenting his lines of products for the moving and storage industry and the military.
Today, New Haven Moving Equipment is managed by Paul and Deanie’s three sons, Roger, Larry and James. Under their management, the company has expanded to fifteen locations coast-to-coast, and is a major manufacturer and/or distributor of an extensive array of products ranging from furniture moving pads, dollies, corrugated and packaging, ramps, slings, appliance trucks, and cargo control to technologically advanced safety equipment for the handicapped. They have designed such “best in class” products as the Dreadnaught furniture pad, the ECRATE(R), and the Slip-Pruf Dolly. Like their father and grandfather, the three brothers are committed to both developing products that are the most technologically advanced in the fields while still providing the kind of devotion to individualized service that their father and grandfather embodied.
