Explore Thailand from Chiang Mai to Koh Samui on Grasshopper Adventures’ New "Thailand North & South" Cycling Tour
Grasshopper Adventures has re-launched its 10-day "Thailand North & South" tour to include Chiang Mai combined with the popular Bangkok to Koh Samui coastal route.
Bangkok, Thailand, July 07, 2015 --(PR.com)-- With its beautiful beaches, tasty food and northern ethnic diversity, Thailand’s reputation as a great holiday destination is well deserved. On Grasshopper Adventures’ new 10-day ‘Thailand North & South’ cycling tour riders can now explore two of Thailand’s most popular regions - Chiang Mai and the Gulf of Thailand – on two wheels.
The tour starts with a guided tour of Chiang Mai, meandering through the old town by bike, through back streets visiting many of the city’s temples and other historic sites. Heading out of town the following day, the tour takes riders to the Wat U Mong forest temple and nearby Botanical Gardens, then continues on to a Bee Keeper Training centre and a handicraft village before ending the day in the old town of Lamphun.
Leaving Lamphun the riding trail heads through rice paddies and small villages with quiet Buddhist temples. After a visit to a hot springs to soothe tired muscles, a transfer takes guests up to the mountains for an evening spent alongside a gurgling stream. The final day in the north delivers an adrenaline rush with a ‘Flight of the Gibbon’ zip-line experience, before the return transfer to Chiang Mai for the short flight to Bangkok.
Guests depart Bangkok by vehicle transfer to Hua Hin, where the southern cycling begins. From here the route hugs the coast, pedalling through small towns with lovely beaches and boutique hotels. Visits include national parks and an elephant conservation project before the ride ends on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand, from where guests can take the boat to the island of their choice: Koh Samui, Koh Pha Ngan or Koh Tao.
The 337km ride is accessible to those comfortable on a bike, with the cycling being on sealed rural lanes and back roads, with a very short spell on a secondary highway. The ride is mostly flat with some small, short hills and a support vehicle is always on hand to rest tired legs. The accommodation is a mix of boutique hotels and 4 star resorts with two nights in the north being spent in simpler but clean and homely properties.
