Strolling Down Memory Lane: A How-to-Guide for Great Holiday Photos
A How-to-guide for great picture taking.
Deal, NJ, November 30, 2007 --(PR.com)-- What did Grandma bring the kids for St. Valentine's Day? Was Aunt Rebekah laughing at Uncle Hiram’s St. Patrick's Day joke? At times like these, capturing treasured memories of family and friends can be a top-priority for many people. According to the folks at Alice Shammah Photography, considering a few important points when preparing for those great posed or candid snapshots, will help create photos worth preserving for future generations:
“Great holiday photos help us recall special memories of those days throughout our lifetimes,” said Alice Shammah, owner of Alice Shammah Photography... with locations in Brooklyn, NY and Deal, New Jersey.
To create great holiday photos, she offers this advice:
Remember the rule of thirds: create images that can be divided visually into 3 horizontal and vertical parts. This will ensure your viewers focus, no pun intended, on what matters the most to you.
If a subject (i.e. your friend) is looking squarely to either side, right or left, of a scene, leave the majority of space in front of their line of vision. Once again, this enables your viewing audience to understand clearly the photographer’s intentions or purpose.
Background and Foreground: Perspective is key. In a scene, if all objects are closest to you, or at a much greater distance, it will most likely leave the viewer feeling the photographer was tooclose or too far away. This is where the zoom feature may best be used.
Light sources: When setting the scene for the memory that is to be photographed, remember to have the sun or artificial lights above or behind the subjects. This way, your family or friends’ eyes won’t be struggling to squint while you’re saying “cheese” (or 1-2-3 Leprechaun?).
Photographer Alice Shammah has been renowned in her profession for over 22 years. Her unique talents continue to be fueled by her love and passion for this art. Alice is a member of the Professional Photographers of New Jersey, as well as the Professional Photographers of America.
