EnSite, Inc. Celebrates 10 Years of Service to Southwest Florida

Design, planning and engineering firm deepens it roots for the next decade

Fort Myers, FL, July 16, 2015 --(PR.com)-- EnSite, Inc. is pleased to announce it is celebrating a special anniversary. Ten years and one economic downturn later, the award-winning firm is positioned to dedicate many more years to improving the Southwest Florida community.

Ensite provides expertise in land planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering and urban design with a special focus on sustainability and connectivity. Representative projects include the Alliance for the Arts Campus Enrichment Plan, Admiral Lehigh Trailhead Park, the Cape Christian Fellowship Church Campus Master Plan, Canterfield Village Residential Planned Development, Gardner’s Park Redevelopment Plan, ongoing planning assistance for the City of LaBelle, Lee County’s Sustainability Plan, McGregor Boulevard Veterinary Clinic and Lehigh Acres Suburban to Urban Redevelopment Plan.

While EnSite enjoyed immediate success and growth after opening, just a couple of years later the market took its famous nosedive, with Southwest Florida among the hardest hit.

“Many small companies did not survive, and ours was on the verge of being another sacrifice to the market trend,” recalled EnSite Planning Director and Principal Shellie Johnson, AICP.

Principal Brian Smith, Director of Land Design, said, “Instead of burying our head in the sand, we decided to re-brand the company to what you see today – EnSite. The logo and the name embody how we approach our projects. We look at each project comprehensively and how it fits within the natural and built environment. How can we add that special touch to make it better for not only the client but the community?”

EnSite Principal and Director of Landscape Architecture Jonathan Romine explained, “With new partners and a corporate mission based on the principles of sustainability the company became stronger, more talented, energetic, thoughtful and more profitable.”

Today EnSite is regarded as a leader not only for excellence in delivering its core services, but for setting a benchmark for corporate social responsibility, a horizontal organizational structure that empowers its employees and results in innovation and top-notch customer service, collaboration with community members, sustainability and educational initiatives that engage the next generation of leaders.

These accomplishments bring plenty of intrinsic rewards to the company and the community, but they also garner many types of formal recognition. EnSite is a proud recipient of a Chrysalis Award for Sustainability, presented by the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce and the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau to recognize the partnership between business and tourism, as well as the Horizon Council’s Industry Appreciation Award for General Business.

In creating an Optimal Healing Environment inside and out at Cape Coral Hospital, EnSite incorporated a connected pathway system, exercise stations and gardens on the campus, which will become a privately owned public park. In May 2015, the facility became the first community hospital in the state of Florida to receive the Governor’s Sterling Award, recognizing organizations and businesses in Florida that have achieved performance excellence.

In the Reconnecting Lee Transit-Oriented Design Competition, EnSite was awarded first place for overall design, first place by the finance committee for the project’s economic viability, first place by the professional committee (composed of its peers) and second place by the general public.

Today EnSite employs eight people. A recent renovation of its downtown Fort Myers office was an early birthday present for the team, signifying its sustained commitment to the future of the place where they live, work, learn and play. This commitment is also demonstrated in the team’s strong community involvement and leadership in organizations such as the Imaginarium Science Center, The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club of Fort Myers South, the LaBelle Downtown Revitalization Corp., Hendry County Hendry/Glades Leadership, YMCA and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Romine said, “The company truly embodies the vision of our name and logo. Sticking with our core values as a company, we will continue to strive for greatness and make our community better today than it was yesterday.”
