100 Nude Models Painted in the Public Streets for NYC Bodypainting Day
100 Fully nude male and female models will become human canvases for over 75 artists at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza on July 18th from noon to 4:00 PM.
New York, NY, July 15, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Hosted by internationally renowned artist/provocateur Andy Golub and Young Naturists America, NYC Bodypainting Day celebrates free artistic expression, body acceptance and human connection through art. The theme “What the World Needs Now…” encourages the artists to share their world view and will march arm-in-arm with their “works of art” to the United Nations at 4:30 PM. The event is capped off with a double-decker bus tour down 5th Avenue.
Bodypainting Day has attracted volunteer models of all shapes and sizes from around the world. Marta Svece is traveling from Latvia to get body painted for the first time. Lakisha “Kiki” Alston-Owens, a plus-size model from Staten Island has been painted several times including at last year’s event. Other participants include a transgender model, a breast cancer survivor and Nicolette Barischoff, who is traveling from Los Angeles and lives with Cerebral Palsy. “I love any art that explores the relationship people have with their own bodies, and society's reactions to them,” says Barischoff.
“New York City is one of the few places in the world where artistic nudity is legal and embraced,” says Golub. Another city that is embracing Bodypainting Day is Amsterdam, which will be hosting its first event on August 15th, 2015 at Rembrandtplein Square from noon to 4:00 PM.
Bodypainting Day is sponsored by Kryolan - Professional Make-up.
