Land Investors Can Build on Halifax’s Success

A new report reveals strong growth in Halifax, Canada, providing increased confidence for investors in a new leisure and residential development.

Marbella, Spain, July 19, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Early purchasers at Forest Lakes Country Club look set to prosper following the publication of a raft of encouraging statistics forecasting economic and community growth in Halifax.

The 2015 Halifax Index Report, published by the Halifax Partnership, offers in-depth analysis of the progress of the East Canadian city, where the premium resort is currently under development.

Ailse MacFarlane, MD of Landcorp International, a European marketing agent for Forest Lakes, says the data backs up their own due diligence reporting: “Before progressing with this development, we studied the marketplace from a number of key perspectives including economic stability and growth potential, as well as average income, unemployment and immigration levels.

“We knew we were looking at something with huge potential, and with the publication of this independent data we are all the more confident that investors in Forest Lakes will benefit from a buoyant market once the development is completed.”

Key findings from the report cover topics ranging from population and GDP growth, through to quality of life and business confidence sentiment. The report also measured the city’s performance against five benchmark Canadian cities; St. John’s, Quebec City, London, Regina and Victoria.

Key findings
· Halifax’s population grew by 1.1% from 2013 to 2014, to over 414,000.
· University enrolment in Halifax reached its highest level yet, driven by another year of significant growth in international students, which now account for 17% of enrolments.
· Halifax registered a 1.2% increase in full-time jobs.
· GDP grew by 2.6% to CAN$18.9 billion in 2014, boosted by the first full year of natural gas production at the Deep Panuke project.
· GDP per capita grew by 1.5% to CAN$45,700, tied with Regina for the fastest growth among benchmark cities.
· Halifax Stanfield International Airport had a record year for both passenger and cargo movements in 2014.
· More than 80% of businesses are optimistic about their current economic prospects in Halifax.
· Crime rates continued to fall, hitting their lowest levels on record.
· Halifax’s per capita personal income grew by 2.3% in 2014, third fastest among benchmark cities and outpacing increases in the cost of living.
· Halifax has the highest reported life satisfaction among benchmark cities.
· The municipality’s fiscal health remains in excellent shape. Municipal revenue and expenditure grew by 2.5% in 2014-15.

“The indices in the Halifax Partnership’s report indicate Halifax has an exciting future ahead, as do our investors,” says MacFarlane.

“Forest Lakes Country Club will be the first premium leisure and residential resort in the Halifax area and features the only Nicklaus Design golf course in Atlantic Canada. And given the growing and increasingly prosperous population, and the expansion of industry and jobs, we expect strong demand for the development’s high quality homes and plots. This spells good news for those who have invested in building plots.”
