LeddarTech Loading Dock Vehicle Position Sensor Proves Valuable for Material Handling Facility Integrator
Quebec City, Canada, July 22, 2015 --(PR.com)-- LeddarTech proved helpful for a material handling facility integrator customer. The firm was mandated to provide all material handling automation for a new warehouse facility. The challenge was to provide a system that would assist truck drivers in docking at the loading/unloading platform safely. The solution was a simple sensor which measures the distance to the dock.
The system has to indicate lateral alignment and distance from the dock, and be able to provide 24-hour operation in all weather conditions.
The LeddarTech Solution included the Leddar Sensor which uses a novel, inherently eye-safe technology that performs detection and ranging by time-of-flight measurement using pulses from a visible or infrared light source (LED, Laser or VCSEL).
Since the sensors feature the ability to operate in all weather conditions (fog, rain, snow), both day and night and the IP67 sensor enclosure for outdoor operation, it was ideal for the material handling facility. The ease of installation and configuration was also an advantage.
