Invitation to the 3rd International Block Swap with the Motto "In the Sun"
Building on the great success of past community activities, the online portal Quilt around the World is organizing a new project for patchwork enthusiasts around the globe: the 3rd International Block Swap, this time with the motto "In the Sun."
Munich, Germany, July 25, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Invited are all quilters, whether beginners, occasional quilters or professionals, who enjoy working together with like-minded people from around the world in a multi-national and cross-cultural project and express their creative ideas in the form of textile quilt patterns.
The participants are asked to sew nine patchwork blocks according to their individual taste and quilt mastery. The blocks will then be swapped within internationally mixed teams. In order to achieve a great diversity of block designs there are next to no restrictions regarding technique, pattern or colors. The block motif, however, must contain the color yellow. In the end, every participant will have the makings of a unique sunshine quilt containing nine different patchwork blocks from nine quilters around the world.
"We hope that through this project many new international contacts and friendships are being forged and our Quilt-around-the-World-'family' continues to grow," said Jutta Hufnagel, Managing Director of Quilt around the World GmbH. Participants are therefore asked to also enclose picture postcards with personal greetings and some information about their creative block ideas for their swap partners in their block package.
The participation fee is 25 Euro. At least 1 Euro will be donated to the international humanitarian organization Doctors without Borders (www.doctorswithoutborders.org) to support their medical work in all countries where the survival of people is endangered by conflicts, epidemics or natural disasters.
The deadline for submitting the finished patchwork blocks is May 31st, 2016.
All participation details as well as many other inspirations for the 3rd International Block Swap are now available online on www.quilt-around-the-world.com/IBS3.
