Kearny Street Workshop, Balazo Gallery and Kwatro-Kantos are proud to present "Hijo De Tuta: Por dios, por santo!" on view from December 10 -16 at Space 180. Hijo De Tuta is a group exhibition of six contemporary painters from the Kwatro-Kantos collective. Using ink, pencils, lead, paint and other mediums, the artists imbue paper with the texture and viscosity of sartorial thoughts, scribbles, the values of society, moral pollution and cut-and-paste. Curated by Lian Ladia and coordinated by TJ Basa, Hijo De Tuta features the works of Arvin Flores, Jose Guinto, England Hidalgo, Marcius Noceda, Carlo Ricafort and Mel Vera Cruz.

Following the opening reception is a program called "storytelling". Featuring well-known Asian American artists, activists and community leaders: Nancy Hom, Oscar Penaranda, Tony Robles, Lorna Chui Velasco and Rupert Estanislao. Over drinks, they will be reading original prose to an audience in a cozy and intimate setting. The closing party will be held at the Balazo Gallery, celebrating its re-opening with punk, new wave and pop bands such as Eskapo, La Grita, The Lures, Novela and The Wildlife.

Kwatro-Kantos formed as a collective to celebrate visual artists, writers and curators in the spirit of dialogue, with respect to commonalities and contradictions in the Filipino and American tradition of exchange. The collective aims to bridge historical, contemporary and community aesthetics through curated exhibitions, dialogue and shared influence. The collective creates an environment wherein ideas are nurtured, supported, exhibited and presented in sustainable ways. In addition to exhibitions, performances and discussions, the artists and scholars will create and develop unique projects and interact with the Bay Area audience and beyond.
