Slow Food Charlotte Hosts "Brew & Chew" Benefit at Birdsong Brewery
On Sunday, August 16th, Slow Food Charlotte is teaming up with NoDa's Birdsong Brewery for a pig pickin' with a cause. Guests will enjoy great local food, amazing beer, and a chance to win gifts from Heritage Restaurant, The Secret Chocolatier, Greeneman Farms and growlers of Birdsong's best.
Charlotte, NC, August 10, 2015 --(PR.com)-- On Sunday, August 16th, Slow Food Charlotte is teaming up with NoDa's Birdsong Brewery for a pig pickin' with a cause. Guests will enjoy great local food, amazing beer, and a chance to win gifts from Heritage Restaurant, The Secret Chocolatier, Greeneman Farms and growlers of Birdsong's best.
The event celebrates the spirit of "Slow Meat, Better Meat," with pork, produce and prizes coming from Charlotte-area producers, all to benefit Slow Food's 10,000 Gardens in Africa initiative.
The fun starts at 3:00, when guests get their first plates of pulled pork with four sides. The pork, provided by A Way of Life Farms in Rutherford County, will be slow-smoked overnight by chefs from the International Culinary School at the Art Institute of Charlotte, and the side dishes will be created from fresh seasonal produce from area farms.
Birdsong will be pouring its ales all afternoon, with $1 from each beer donated to 10,000 Gardens in Africa. Live music and games of cornhole will entertain the crowd, along with raffle prizes, including 3 growlers of Birdsong beers. Presale tickets include 3 entries into the raffle, with additional entries available for sale.
"This event has some awesome potential," says Slow Food leader Geny Case. "Not only will it benefit 10,000 Gardens, but will also bring awareness to Slow Meat," part of Slow Food's mission of "good, clean and fair food" around the world.
