Draper Center Alum Soars Onto So You Think You Can Dance Top 10
Rochester, NY, August 13, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Draper Center, the official training school for the Rochester City Ballet, is excited to announce student alumni, Jim Nowakowski, has made the Top 10 on So You Think You Can Dance continuing his journey to become America’s Favorite Dancer.
Nowakowski stunned the judges with his Los Angeles audition, and has been wowing with each performance, being told in his rehearsal for his Monday night performance that he was "The best dancer on the show,” by Team Stage Captain, Travis Wall and then after his performance Executive Producer and Judge Nigel Lythgoe concurred with the statement saying he was “The best technical dancer of this season and many of the previous.”
“From the first moment Jim walked into the studio we all knew he was special,” said Jamey Leverett, Artistic Director of The Draper Center for Dance Education. “He was always a pleasure to teach. Hardworking, dedicated, passionate, and so naturally gifted. When a complete package like Jim comes along, you just know he’s going to be a star!”
Monday night, Draper Center students along with their family members cheered on Nowakowski as he was voted into the Top 10 continuing his journey to become “America’s favorite dancer”. We’re hoping all of Rochester, NY will come out and help back this talented local artist by watching and voting for him on So You Think You Can Dance.

About Draper Center
In 1986 Timothy Draper recognized that the Rochester community was in need of a professional dance school – a place for students to receive a strong foundation in classical ballet while studying other forms of artistic dance. He founded what is now The Timothy M. Draper Center for Dance Education to meet that need.
In 2004, after the passing of Timothy Draper, Jamey Leverett took over as Artistic Director of Draper Center. Leverett and Executive Director Kathy Ertsgaard led Draper Center into a new era, moving the school into it's new facility and continuing to perfect a curriculum and teaching style that has garnered many awards and national recognition as one of the top dance training schools in the United States.
Former Draper Center alumni are currently dancing in many of the best dance companies and performing arts groups across the world.
