Lutheran Services in America Successfully Meets Thrivent Financial Foundation’s $50,000 Challenge Grant

Washington, DC, August 13, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Lutheran Services in America (LSA) is thrilled to announce that it has met the Thrivent Financial Foundation’s (Thrivent) Challenge Grant for the LSA 20-500 Fund, a three-year fundraising campaign commemorating and building towards LSA’s 20th anniversary and the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017. Thrivent’s Challenge Grant matched $1 for every $1 raised from individual donors up to $25,000. Upon successful completion of the Challenge, Thrivent generously made a second grant of $25,000 to the LSA 20-500 Fund.

LSA extends a special thank you to its faithful friends and supporters, who together made it possible to meet Thrivent’s Challenge in the first year of the campaign – well before the June 30, 2017 deadline. The LSA 20-500 Fund represents LSA’s first multi-year fundraising campaign. Support from the LSA 20-500 Fund makes it possible to expand the reach of Lutheran social ministry and secure the life-changing work of the LSA network for generations to come.

“We are deeply grateful to Thrivent for its longtime partnership and ongoing support and to our friends and supporters,” said Charlotte Haberaecker, President & CEO of LSA. “Thrivent’s Challenge Grant inspires the broad base of support LSA needs to be able to grow programs and bring resources to our nationwide network of Lutheran social ministries, who walk alongside our neighbors in need every day, touching the lives of 1 in 50 people every year.”

“We celebrate LSA’s success in completing this challenge,” said Karen Himle, Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Thrivent. “We appreciate the important work of Lutheran social ministry organizations and are pleased to have had the opportunity to fortify the future of the LSA network through this grant.”
