Pacific Islands Society Opens Call for Applicants for the 2016 Pacific Next Generation Artists Program

Leading young artists from the Pacific region are invited to showcase their talents on the world stage.

Honolulu, HI, August 16, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Pacific Islands Society (PacSoc) is pleased to announce the next edition of its Pacific Next Generation (NexGen) Artists Program, which targets visual artists (aged < 35) from the Pacific Islands.

The 2016 Pacific NexGen Artists program will provide regional artists with a global stage to showcase their talents. Successful applicants will be given their own virtual gallery on the PacSoc website as well as marketing and communications support to create global awareness for their brand. Participants will also be invited to contribute thought leadership articles about contemporary issues in Pacific art.

Jeffry Feeger – a participant from the inaugural class of 2014 Pacific NexGen Artists – says the program "enables young artists to establish a collective presence. In this way, we can be supportive of each other’s passions and encourage one another’s growth." He adds, "The Pacific Islands Society gives artists the global marketing and communications platforms that they need to be able to influence the cultural emergence and intellectual growth of the Pacific region."

PacSoc is now accepting applications from the following countries, territories, prefectures, and states: Fiji, Tonga, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Nauru, Solomon Islands, New Zealand, Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, Niue, Republic of Marshall Islands, Tuvalu, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, American Samoa, Tokelau, Guam, Timor-Leste, Wallis and Futuna, Hawaii, Okinawa, and the Northern Mariana Islands.

Prospective applicants should forward a one-page expression of interest, 5-10 high-resolution photos of their best work, and any coverage that their art has received in local media to pr@islandssociety.org by 17:00 GMT on October 1, 2015.
