USA Fit Tampa Bay Ready to Turn Couch Potatoes Into Marathoners
St. Petersburg-based marathon and half marathon training group program, perfect for beginners, will host orientation, in-person registration and training event Aug. 22 and 29 at North Shore Park.
St. Petersburg, FL, August 21, 2015 --(PR.com)-- With the winter marathon and half marathon season just around the corner, USA Fit Tampa Bay invites runners and walkers of all levels in the Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg areas to lace up their running shoes and start training with them this Saturday, Aug. 22, from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m., or Aug. 29, from 7:00 to 8:30 a.m. at North Shore Park. Aspiring and experienced long distance athletes alike can learn more about USA Fit, meet their coaches and fellow members. For those who miss either orientation event, online registration and other available Saturdays to begin training are available now through Sept. 26 at www.tampabayfit.com.
“There is nothing like that feeling of accomplishment and pride when you finish a marathon or half marathon for the first or even twentieth time,” said Organizer Michelle Schultz, a native from St. Petersburg who credits USA Fit Tampa Bay with helping her properly prepare for her second marathon. “We are excited to have been able to bring that joy to our members over the years. We strive to give them a structured but fun, social and non-intimidating training environment. Members can meet their specific race and fitness goals together, while training at their individual paces.”
Members meet each Saturday over the course of 25 weeks to train in their ability-based groups under the tutelage and encouragement of USA Fit’s team of certified coaches. During the week, they follow a carefully devised training schedule, enjoy informational seminars on fitness- and health-related topics and enjoy occasional social events to continue the camaraderie off the pavement.
This year's target races, which are not required but highly encouraged by USA Fit, include the Ft. Lauderdale A1A, Florida Road Races, Disney Marathon and the St. Pete Beach Classic.
“No matter how much you’ve run, walked or haven’t, we have a group for you to train with,” added Co-Organizer Jennifer Bumbalough. “The only thing we ask our members to show up with is a goal and the passion to meet it. We take care of the rest!”
Registration is $120 for new members and $100 for returning members from any previous season. More information and online registration is available at www.TampaBayFit.com.
