About Honorable Terrell E. Arnold
Honorable Arnold has retired after 31 years of Government service. He held the position of Minister Counselor for Foreign Affairs for the U.S. Government which is a foreign affairs international agency. He was responsible for meeting and discussing diplomatic views on U.S. industry and government. Mr. Arnold currently serves as President of the LIFE (Learning is For Ever) adult education program sponsored by the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, where he teaches a four part LIFE course in foreign affairs each term to about 50 adults. Previously, he held the following positions: Petty Officer First Class, U.S. Navy; Quartermaster, U.S. Merchant Marine; Foreign Service Officer, Counselor of Embassy for Economic & Commercial Affairs, Manila, Philippines; U.S. Consul General, Sao Paulo, Brazil; Minister Counselor for Foreign Affairs U.S. Foreign Service. After college, he took the U.S. Foreign Service exam and was inducted in 1957. Following tours in Washington, DC, Cairo, Calcutta, Colombo, Manila and Sao Paulo, Mr. Arnold retired in 1984 after 31 years of Government service. After retiring as a Senior Associate of Booz-Allen & Hamilton, he became a consultant to the U.S. Department of State and other agencies, serving in that capacity until 2001. Mr. Arnold has published 6 books on contemporary US foreign relations issues and is currently working on an as yet untitled work on the Israel/Palestine conflict. He is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Stevens Point and is President Elect for L.I.F.E.
Mr. Arnold was born on December 14, 1925 in Bluefield, West Virginia. He obtained an A.B. from Stanford University, a M.A. in Political Science and Economics from San Jose State University in 1958, an A.S. from SUNY Plattsburgh and, while on state department assignment, completed a year of advanced graduate studies in development economics at the University of California at Berkeley. He has been married to Yvonne since November 25, 1951. In his spare time, Mr. Arnold enjoys birdwatching and fishing.
