Pimp Your iMP Tour Brings the Local Music Scene Back to the Forefront of Indie Music

With all of the focus on social networking as the primary promotional effort for undiscovered independent artists, local music scenes have become under-represented online. The Pimp Your iMP Tour is a campaign to bridge the real world to the internet world by creating a worldwide connected network of local online music magazines.

Cincinnati, OH, December 08, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Thimble Media, a leading new media company with a distribution network of podcasts, online publications and alternative media websites in major US markets, announced the launch of their Pimp Your iMP Tour, via the Indie Music Project and Insomnia Radio brands.

The Indie Music Project is an online, multimedia, publication devoted to discovering talented musicians in local communities across the globe and creating opportunities for them to gain increased exposure through new media, and traditional, media partners.

With all of the focus on social networking as the primary promotional effort for undiscovered independent artists, local music scenes have become under-represented online. Many talented musicians remain unaware of alternative media opportunities to promote themselves and their music. This creates an environment where most will never achieve success outside of their own backyard.

"There is a rich and diverse music scene in every town and city out there. No area's sound and vibe is the same. It's that diversity that Insomnia Radio has captured through podcasts and now the Indie Music Project plans to capture as a network of local online music magazines", said Jason Evangelho, host of Insomnia Radio.

Together, the Indie Music Project and Insomnia Radio's desire to represent the local music scene has given birth to the Pimp Your iMP Tour, a campaign to recruit Associate Publishers in cities and towns all across the map. Each Associate Publisher will own their own local online music magazine that covers artists, venues and the music scene the way they see it. Independently licensed, they will have the opportunity to generate revenue through real world advertisers as well as select Thimble Media partners such as mobile ringtone provider Myxer and artist promoter Magnet Media.

Artists that are featured in local iMP magazines will be promoted via Indie Music Project and Insomnia Radio distribution outlets, including their exclusive channel on P2P network Azureus/Vuze, online radio station IR 24/7, affiliate media podcasts, music blogs and online radio stations.

"We've had the opportunity to work with very talented independent artists, pioneers that have embraced new media and utilized it to further their success. Artists such as theMaterial, Pensive, Taxi Doll, Clever Bastards, Harvey Danger, and Jonathan Coulton among others. With thousands of independent artists played, interviewed, reviewed or promoted we have looked closely at what needs artists have to reach their fans. These pioneers have made us realize that a method needs to be in place to help bring to light talented local artists who may not be aware or have the savvy to take advantage of all that new media offers.

"Social networking has been a part of human interaction throughout our history. The Pimp Your iMP Tour is an attempt to bridge the social networks of the real world into the social networks that have been developed online. The Indie Music Project will be able to truly bring you the best in undiscovered music" - Justin Parnell, founder of Thimble Media.
