BMaD for Charity - Buy Me A Drink App Puts Its Tech at the Service of Mercy Relief
Buy Me A Drink App initiates new technology to bring parties together in the spirit of Charity.
Singapore, Singapore, September 04, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Buy Me A Drink App has set in motion a new way for charity organisations to fundraise at events. Partnering with Singapore humanitarian NGO Mercy Relief for the first time, anyone participating in the charity event can now purchase event tickets, raffle tickets, and make donations through the Buy Me A Drink app simply by a tap of the finger.
The Myanmar Flood Relief Fundraiser organized by Mercy Relief will take place on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 from 7:30pm - 10:00pm. The open bar event will be held at Hero's Bar on Circular Road and event tickets of $80 will include a free-flow of house spirits, wine and beer. Donations of $50-$300 can be made through the app.
"Mercy Relief remains engaged in ongoing relief efforts in Myanmar and is grateful for the fundraising support extended by Hero's through their Buy Me A Drink app initiative," said Zhang Tingjun, Executive Director of Mercy Relief.
Buy Me A Drink will be processing cashless transactions at the event through one-touch mobile payments. Users can securely top up their mobile wallet with their credit card and experience smoother and faster payments. Buy Me A Drink will be donating $5 for every ticket purchased through the app, and 3 lucky winners will walk away with $100 BMD bar tabs to spend at its 20 partner bars across the city.
"Buy Me A Drink wants to brings the party together in the spirit of charity, we believe in giving back to the community and having a great time in doing so," said Silvana Carpanelli-Hayes, Chief Party Officer for the Singapore-based app.
Together with Mercy Relief's ground partner, Myanmar Heart Development Organization (MHDO) has donated more than 10 tones of food supply to 350 affected households in Kyawtaw Township, Rakhire State in Myanmar in August 2015. The heavy monsoon floods have displaced more than a million people and a death toll of a hundred people have been estimated. All proceeds from the fundraising event will go to further assisting flood relief efforts.
Officially launched by then-Deputy Prime Minister Lee Hsieng Loong in September 2003, Mercy Relief makes Singapore's only homegrown independent NGO humanitarian charity, established to respond to human tragedies in Asia. It depends fully on public donations to sustain overseas aid programs.
