Rahway Branch Announces Associate Executive Director

Rahway, NJ, September 22, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Gateway Family YMCA today announced the addition of Mike Tonzola in the position of Associate Executive Director at the Rahway Branch, 1564 Irving Street, Rahway, NJ. According to Krystal R. Canady, CEO, "I am excited to welcome Mike Tonzola to The Gateway Family YMCA staff team. Mike’s extensive YMCA leadership experience brings a level of professionalism and creativity to the Rahway Branch.”

Mike holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health from Stockton College, and a YMCA career spanning over 15 years. His career began as a camp counselor in Metuchen, quickly forging into youth and teen programming. Most Recently, Mike held the position of Associate Branch Director at the South Amboy Branch YMCA, leading the branch in all aspects of development and growth. On his move to the Rahway Branch, Mike stated, “I am excited to bring my experience and skills to Rahway. I remember at the age of 9 my brother taking me with him to wrestling matches and high school football games in Rahway, while he would help coach. 25 years later, I am back in Rahway working with the youth and families in the community through the work of the YMCA.”

When asked about his goals, Mike added, “I look forward to bringing a new level of youth and teen programs to the Rahway Branch. We are expanding the focus beyond physical health and well-being and promoting leadership skills, social development and personal growth, making better community members for days to come.”

The Rahway Branch recently completed a 16,938 square foot renovation project, which included additional program space for community programs and services. “At The Gateway Family YMCA, our focus is on the community. We provide financial assistance so that every member of the community has access to the programs they need,” added Rodger Koerber, Rahway Branch Executive Director.
