Acquisition of Jenkins Labels labeling business cements position in SATO in New Zealand.
Tokyo, Japan, September 08, 2015 --(PR.com)-- SATO (TSE:6287), a leading global provider of Auto-ID solutions that empower workforces and streamline operations announced today that it has acquired the general labeling business of Jenkins Labels Limited, a leader in primary label production operating in Auckland, New Zealand. The labeling businesses acquired include primary labels, shrink sleeve labels, and wraparound labels.
SATO New Zealand (SNZ) already has a substantial labeling and traceability business headquartered in Auckland, with offices in Christchurch and Dunedin. It counts many of New Zealand’s largest organizations amongst its customer base, and has been in operation in this market for over 40 years by virtue of the prior acquisitions of Checkpoint Meto and Walker Datavision.
The primary label business of Jenkins will serve to complement SNZ’s existing capability in the areas of operational labeling, courier labeling, laboratory labeling, printers, barcode scanning and traceability solutions.
“Jenkins has been a front-runner in the labeling business in New Zealand for many years,” says Kerry Langley, SATO New Zealand’s Managing Director. “Their commitment to innovation and delivering customer value has allowed them to solidify their position, particularly in beverage and food labeling solutions. We are extremely proud to welcome them into the SATO Group, and aim to continue delivering superior primary labels while leveraging our global network to open new opportunities for our customers.”
Jenkins Labels’ sister company, Jenkins Freshpak Systems, will continue to operate independently and deliver industry-specific solutions to the horticulture market in New Zealand and Australia. To this end, SATO and Jenkins Freshpak have formed a strategic partnership to expand services to horticulture customers to include printing and traceability solutions.
“We are constantly striving to reinforce our network of solution providers to bring customized labeling solutions to customers,” said Kaz Matsuyama, President and CEO of SATO Holdings. “This acquisition of a proven market leader boosts our network and lineup to improve our ability to deliver comprehensive labeling solutions to New Zealand customers.”
