Chasing BBQ-76 BBQ Joints in 38 Days Next Stop: Memphis
Denver, CO, September 09, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Savory Spice Shop, the leader in fresh-ground spices and handcrafted seasonings, has sent their Founder and CEO Mike Johnston on a national road trip around the United States "chasing" the best BBQ in the country.
“I just finished the first leg of my journey in Texas, where I visited over 20 barbecue joints in a week, visiting places like world renowned Franklin Barbecue in Austin to Killen’s Barbeque in Houston – which was just featured on HBO’s Hard Knocks,” said Mike Johnston, Savory Spice Shop founder. “Now I head to Memphis for five days where my wife and Savory co-founder Janet Johnston will join me for my next 13 stops; hopefully we can get our fill of Memphis-style ribs and soak up some blues music.”
On his first day in Memphis, Mike visited Central BBQ, Payne’s Bar-B-Q, and BB King’s Blues Club. During his travels in Texas, Mike received a fair amount of recommendations for Central BBQ, where he has been told the bologna sandwich “is to die for.”
It is fitting that Janet joins Mike on this stretch of his tour as the month of September commemorates the 11th anniversary of Savory Spice Shop. In an up-and-coming section of downtown Denver, Colorado, the first Savory Spice Shop opened to rave reviews. From there, Savory Spice Shop has grown to over 34 locations across the country and became the leader in fresh-ground spices and handcrafted seasonings.
Follow Mike and Janet on the Savory Spice Shop Facebook page as they continue the Chasing BBQ Road Trip through Memphis, or using the hashtag “#ChasingBBQ.” Anybody who finds the Chasing BBQ truck or camper along the journey and posts a photo to Savory Spice Shop’s Facebook page, will get a $10 Savory Spice gift certificate. If you find Mike himself and say hello, Savory Spice Shop will double your gift certificate amount.
