Free Wheelchair Mission Wins Accolades for Transparency and Accountability with Gold Rating by GuideStar
Irvine, CA, September 08, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Free Wheelchair Mission (FWM) has earned top ratings from GuideStar and Charity Navigator, two highly respected non-profit reporting services. As a “GuideStar Gold” recipient and a “4-Star” Charity Navigator designee FWM joins a select group of non-profits commended for their efficient use of donor dollars and responsible financial management.
An organization must divulge its IRS filings and salaries and provide extensive information on its fiscal structure and practices to earn GuideStar’s Gold-level rating. FWM, a humanitarian, faith-based nonprofit that creates and distributes wheelchairs to recipients in developing nations, was pleased to supply the necessary data.
“It’s important that donors understand how their funds are utilized,” said Denny Kromer, FWM’s Chief Financial Officer. “We believe in transparency and welcome the type of independent analysis that GuideStar provides. It helps build confidence in our cause.”
FWM also holds a coveted 4-Star rating from independent evaluator Charity Navigator. As CN’s website explains, a 4-Star rating is granted only to a nonprofit that is “exceptional” and “exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in its cause.” The 4-Star rating is based on data-driven analysis and metrics, and it indicates a charity displays “rigor, responsibility and a commitment to openness,” says Tim Gamory, CN’s Chief Operating Officer.
“We have faith in our contributors and it’s a two-way street,” agreed FWM President & Founder Don Schoendorfer. “We are grateful for the trust our supporters and partners place in us. We couldn’t impact over 862,000 lives without them, and we’re happy to prove we’re faithful stewards of their contributions. Together we are on our Mission to a Million and hope to reach our goal of distributing one million wheelchairs by the end of 2016.”
