SIIA Seeks Emerging Ed Tech Companies for Incubator Program

Washington, DC, September 11, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Education Technology Information Network (ETIN) of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) is accepting applicants for its Innovation Incubator program. Selected developers of promising technologies designed for the K-12 and postsecondary markets will be invited to participate in the SIIA Innovation Incubator program during the 15th annual SIIA Education Business Forum, December 8-9, at the AMA Conference Center in New York. The deadline to apply is September 30.

"We were so pleased at the visibility and support we received before, during and after the conference," said Tyler Wood, president and CMO of Cogent Education, a company that won multiple awards as an Innovation Incubator participant last year. "The ETIN news releases garnered significant attention to our company, and the mentoring by SIIA companies gave us a jump start in building our business."

The SIIA Innovation Incubator program identifies and supports entrepreneurs in the development and launch of innovative learning technologies. The program began in 2006, and has helped hundreds of companies enrich education through the use of software, digital content and related technologies. The Innovation Incubator program employs a peer-review process to identify the most promising digital education products. Successful industry leaders within the ETIN membership also provide one-on-one mentorship before, during and after the Forum to support the growth and success of participants.

“It’s exciting to share our knowledge with this group at the Education Business Forum, as they are so focused on growing the value of their companies,” said Karen Billings, vice president and managing director of ETIN. “Our members and Forum attendees will provide ideas for growing capital, revenue and profitability because they really want to see these innovators succeed.”

Education technology companies and development groups funded by government or nongovernment agencies with market-ready innovations are encouraged to apply. A panel of ETIN member judges, consisting of prominent education technology industry professionals, will review and score each innovation, and collective scores will determine finalists and an alternate. Scores will be calculated based on:

· True innovation
· Market need/Solving a problem in education
· Ability to be successful

Finalists will present their products in person for Education Business Forum attendees. A winner and one runner-up will be chosen for the “Most Innovative” and “Most Likely to Succeed” categories based on the votes submitted by Forum attendees.
