Symbion Power Returns as Diamond Sponsor for iPAD Rwanda in Kigali in November
Kigali, Rwanda, September 23, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The organisers of the iPAD Rwanda Power & Infrastructure Investment Forum in November in Kigali have announced that Symbion Power will return as the exclusive diamond sponsor for the event. Symbion Power is a well-known international power developer of electrical infrastructure projects and last year was awarded a 50 Megawatt Independent Power Production (IPP) gas to power project using methane gas from Lake Kivu in Rwanda.
The second edition of iPAD Rwanda enjoys high-level support from the Kigali government and parastatals and will once again welcome more than 250 industry experts and stakeholders from 5-6 November. The event offers a platform for private investors, project developers, consultants, technology and solution providers and financiers looking for opportunities in Rwanda’s energy, infrastructure and mining sectors.
Committed to being a long-term partner
“Symbion is committed to being a long-term partner and delivering electricity to Rwanda and to help de-risk Lake Kivu by safely extracting the methane gas that continues to build up in its depths and may be used to generate power,” says Symbion Power’s CEO Paul Hinks.
He continues, “Symbion is currently finalizing the Power Purchase and Concession Agreements with the government of Rwanda. We hope to soon sign these key contracts with the government which will enable us to then begin the next phase of project implementation.”
Challenging but excited project
Asked if there are any unexpected challenges, the Symbion CEO explains that, “with any project there will always be unexpected challenges, and Lake Kivu will likely be no different. However, the unique nature of the lake and the fact that we are developing the largest project on the lake makes this an exciting project and our team is highly experienced and well prepared.”
He adds, “although much of the technology that will be used is standard in the gas and power industries, the methane resource in Lake Kivu is itself unique. The lake also has sensitive environmental considerations, and Symbion is taking great care and attention to ensure our design complies with the Lake Management Prescriptions; safety is always at the forefront of our decision-making process.”
The iPAD Rwanda Power & Infrastructure Investment Forum is organised by Spintelligent, a leading Cape Town-based trade exhibition and conference organiser, and the African office of Clarion Events Ltd, based in the UK.
