Holding Up Backups with Belts and Braces

A recent survey from Macrium Software finds more than 50% of those questioned have more than one backup supplier in place.

Manchester, United Kingdom, September 25, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Macrium Software recently undertook a research survey to test some of the assumptions and themes that characterise the backup and DR market. With almost 500 responses, they asked about what makes a perfect solution, how they undertake an optimal backup and what their biggest headaches are for backup software.

It was discovered that with over 50% using more than one supplier for their backup needs, there was a requirement for ‘belts and braces’ to ensure that they were appropriately covered. It was indicated that as long as a solution is fast, reliable and easy to use, that was of more importance than having a single ‘one size fits all’ solution.

The top five headaches were time taken to do a backup, whether the backup has been successful, the complexity, remembering to set backups and the storage space required.

Stephen Macpherson, Sales Director at Macrium Software states: “We were delighted by such a strong response to our survey. We were interested to discover that prioritising the right tool for the job is more important than minimising the number of backup tools in the enterprise. Not surprisingly, reliability, ease of use, speed and simplicity are the most desirable features in a backup tool.”
