Cameron Village Fundraiser Results in Big Numbers for Inter-Faith Food Shuttle
Cameron Village Merchants' Association donates $20,000 to the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle BackPack Buddies program. The donation helps insure that children do not go hungry on weekends when schools' free and reduced-price breakfast and lunch options are not available.
Raleigh, NC, September 25, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Mobile Meals Food Truck, a.k.a. the Mobile Tastiness Machine rolls into Cameron Village on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 3 p.m.
The BackPack Buddies program of the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is the beneficiary of the Village’s spring fundraiser, One Night Only--The Underground Comes Alive. BackPack Buddies provides critical nutrition for school age children without food to eat on weekends. "Simply put, it keeps kids from going hungry," stated Pat Boyle, Executive Director of the Cameron Village Merchants’ Association. "We had a unique opportunity to open the Underground venue; but we were committed to creating the event with a cause, not merely a good time. September is Hunger Action Month and we are elated to present a donation to the BackPack Buddies program for $20,000."
The foundation of BackPack Buddies is that all kids should come to school nourished & ready to learn. In North Carolina, 1-in-4 children is at risk of hunger. The sold-out fundraiser was held on May 16, 2015 and allowed participants a single night to party in the former entertainment haven below Raleigh’s Cameron Village.
A celebration is planned in Cameron Village on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 3 p.m. on Daniels Street near Pier One Imports. Participants will include Cameron Village merchants and representatives from the fundraiser sponsors.
