SportRabbit.com Brings First Sporting Goods Search Engine to the Twin Cities

Minneapolis, MN, December 12, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Minneapolis-based Sportrabbit.com is proud to announce the first and only local search engine specifically for sporting goods. Until now, Twin Cities’ shoppers had few options other than driving to, calling or checking individual store websites to see if they carry specific sporting good items. “Sportrabbit.com will drastically cut down the time, frustration and in many cases, the cost of shopping for athletic goods, sport services and apparel”, said Cale Loken, CEO of Sportrabbit.com. “There are over 500 specialty sporting good stores who offer products and services here in the Twin Cities. Our goal is to connect you the consumer with as many of these specialty sporting good stores as possible on one, easy-to-use website.”

Sportrabbit.com users can search the website by sport or department all the way down the specific brand of a product. By simply entering their zip code, users can find all the stores in a certain mile radius that carry the product they are looking for. Sportrabbit.com lists the name, address, phone number, description and map to each store. In many cases users will also find a coupon that can be used for the product they entered. “Sporting goods can be so specific,” said Chris Loken, Vice President. “Up until now, many people would end up settling for a product they didn’t really want, many times paying more or waiting for the correct item online. Sportrabbit.com allows them to find what they want fast, nearby and in many cases, for less money.”

Cale Loken’s 9 ½ years working at a large sporting good store sparked the idea for Sportrabbit.com. “I had about 10 people a day asking me for products we either didn’t carry or have in stock,” said Loken. “When they asked me where they could find it, I, like most sales associates, would usually say Google or the yellow pages until I actually looked there myself.” Loken found no search engines out there connecting local sporting good stores with consumers. A marketing major from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Loken saw this as a tremendous business potential.

Cale Loken, 27, and his brother, Chris, 35, began several years of research, talking with local storeowners and crunching the numbers. “We saw this as a win-win for both consumers struggling to find the products they want and many specialty sporting good stores trying to get the exposure for their business,” said Cale Loken. “We like to think of ourselves as the Sunday paper, packed with the information consumers need and coupons they can use.”
