Medical Tourism Association® Recognizes Rollins College Professor for "Excellence in Research"

Dr. Marc Fetscherin, Developer of Medical Tourism Index, honored at 8th World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress, Sept. 27-30, 2015, in Orlando, Fla.

Orlando, FL, October 09, 2015 --(PR.com)-- For his efforts to provide international healthcare consumers with value-based treatment options, Dr. Marc Fetscherin, associate professor of international business and marketing at Rollins College, has been recognized for Excellence in Medical Tourism Research, the Medical Tourism Association® announced.

Dr. Fetscherin, a Cornell Distinguished Faculty, is the developer of the Medical Tourism Index, an undertaking of the International Healthcare Research Center that measures the attractiveness of a country for medical travel based on “Country Environment,” “Medical Tourism Costs,” and Destination Attractiveness,” as well as 34 underlying criteria.

“This instrument makes a significant contribution so far as providing unbiased information about medical tourism across the globe,” said Renée-Marie Stephano, President of the Medical Tourism Association®, who announced the award at the 8th World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress, Sept. 27-30, 2015, in Orlando, Fla. “This information provides not only what patients need to know when planning a medical journey overseas, but is a valuable tool for governments, employers and insurance companies, hospitals and doctors, facilitators and related travel and hospitality industries throughout the world.”

Canada, the United Kingdom, Israel, Singapore and Costa Rica were chosen the most attractive destinations for medical tourism in 2014. To register for a complete 2014 Medical Tourism Index, go to: http://www.medicaltourismindex.com/register/

“Many countries are touting their healthcare services, costs, safety and security and locations to attract foreign patients,” said Marc Fetscherin. “IHRC – through the Medical Tourism Index and related analysis – serves as a trusted and evidence-based support mechanism to achieve their goals.”

The World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress accepts nominations to honor leadership, innovation, education, service and top facilities and destinations in the care and treatment of both international- and domestic-traveling patients.
