Blazing Griffin Announces Merger with Haphazard Media and Picture Lock Media
Blazing Griffin announces merger with film and TV production company Haphazard Media and post-production company Picture Lock Media.
Edinburgh, United Kingdom, October 16, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Making its first foray into cross-platform entertainment, Blazing Griffin is thrilled to announce their expansion into film today, as they bring on film and post production partners to create two new divisions that will fall under the Blazing Griffin brand. This marks a new model for the entertainment company which will focus on developing existing and new IP.
Blazing Griffin Films will be run by up-and-coming BAFTA award-winning producer Naysun Alae-Carew together with Nicholas Crum, who will join as Executive Director of the group and Producer, respectively.
“We want to create worlds — build stories that span games, films, TV, comics and more, and give our audiences a chance to experience something a little different in each one, but always with a great story at its heart,” says Alae-Carew. He previously worked as a junior producer at Black Camel Pictures, working on the likes of the Outpost films and game as well as Sunshine on Leith. Anne Mensah, Head of Drama at Sky, joins the Board.
Blazing Griffin Post will be headed by Managing Director David Frew and Post Production Supervisor Charlotte Walsh, bringing years of TV post production experience. Previous and current work includes Outlander, Shetland, Fried and Waterloo Road.
The success of the business reflects the human capital in the entertainment industry in Scotland. As more major productions in games, film and TV come to Scotland, demand for Scottish talent and services is on the increase.
Managing Director, Peter van der Watt, says, “I moved to Scotland because of the talent that is known to exist here and the great deal of support available to businesses from the likes of Scottish Enterprise, SDI and Creative Scotland. One can create sustainable, fast-growing entertainment companies that retain much of the local environment’s flair.”
Blazing Griffin will soon be announcing their feature film slate with Vertigo Films, SC Films, The Salt Company, XYZ Films and Forward Films as partners on various exciting projects.
