Carver County Replacing Paper with Mobile App for Social Workers
Dublin, OH, October 23, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Carver County Community Social Services (CCCSS) invested in new technology to help children and families receiving services from social workers who have to manage overwhelming paperwork requirements.
To better serve the community, CCCSS is replacing its cumbersome paper-based processes with a mobile electronic document management software solution for 30 social workers in children’s services. The mobile app will help social workers complete required paperwork efficiently, close cases more quickly, and reduce paperwork-related stress on workers.
“Workers are struggling to keep up with their paperwork, which stresses them out and gets in the way of our performance measures. I know our work is better than it looks on paper,” said Dan Koziolek, child and family manager.
Social services work is a high-stress, demanding job. Reducing the paperwork burden reduces stress on workers, which ultimately helps improve service to families.
Northwoods’ mobile document management solution, Compass® CoPilot, will help children’s services social workers access and update documentation using an iPad® app from the field, rather than using paper forms and documents. Workers can take date- and time-stamped photos of families and living situations and complete forms with clients and have them electronically signed. The mobile app allows social workers to focus more on family engagement by reducing the time they spend completing required paperwork and maximizing their time in the field. Time spent in the field with families is the best way to improve safety outcomes, reduce reoccurrence and establish permanency for children.
CCCSS is nationally recognized for its use of the Signs of Safety, a strength-based, safety-focused approach that encourages social workers to build partnerships with families to improve child safety. The agency has been using Signs of Safety as a key methodology for engaging family members, community and advocates in establishing safety for children and their families. The mobile app will help social workers continue engaging families while also accurately documenting their work.
“This solution will give us tools to take the next step forward to implementing the Signs of Safety effectively in every one of our cases,” Koziolek said.
The project kicks off in early December. CCCSS also utilizes Northwoods’ electronic document management solution for office-based caseworkers in financial assistance and child support. CCCSS is located in Chaska, MN.
