Just an Essay Away from Winning Outback Jack's Beach Bar N Grill in a Tropical Paradise
In Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Costa Rica, Penny and Jack Williams, the owners of Outback Jack's Beach Bar N Grill, are finally retiring to write their books. Rather than selling their internationally known restaurant, they thought it would be a lot more fun to run an essay contest for someone to win the restaurant. Everyone has dreams! This could become reality.

Penelope and Jack Williams have operated the Outback Jack's Beach Bar N Grill for 7 years. They moved to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca three years ago. During that time, the place has won a serious reputation for good food, service, and funky ambiance. Penelope and Jack are not just restaurant owners; they have become friends to many of their regular customers. Outback Jack's Beach Bar N Grill gets local and international relaxed customers.
The food served consists of barbecued steaks, ribs, tasty little chicken wings, Aussie burgers and fresh fries, sautéed vegetables, roasted potatoes, salads, homemade sauces and soups, fresh sea food, whole fried red snappers, crab cakes, local dishes... always with an effort made on the flavor and presentation. A variety of cocktails is also served: margarita, pina colada, daiquiri… The restaurant has a very positive cash flow.
Special events take place for Halloween, the 4th of July, Super bowl final, Mardi Gras, New Year’s Eve and any other excuse to have a party.
Penelope and Jack truly enjoyed running Outback Jack’s. But they now want to take time to write books about all the adventures they have been through all around the world (first one will be “Always On The Edge - While flying by the seat of our pants”).
It is time for someone to take over.
