WiMAX Forum to Showcase AeroMACS Interoperable Equipment at ATCA Conference

Aviation-Focused Seminar Will Highlight AeroMACS Cost-Effective Products, Standards, and Deployments

Clackamas, OR, October 25, 2015 --(PR.com)-- This November, the WiMAX Forum is proud to host another informative seminar, delivering maximum value to the aviation community. AeroMACS 2015 - National Harbor will be held at the ATCA 60th Annual Conference and Exposition on Tuesday, November 3 at 14:00 in the General Dynamics Theater at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. Participation is free for all ATCA conference attendees.

The Aeronautical Mobile Airport Communications System (AeroMACS) profile has been adopted to support next generation airport surface communications needs, guarantee safety, and improve regularity of flights worldwide. At AeroMACS 2015 - National Harbor, industry experts will discuss AeroMACS standardization, certification, security, airborne applications, surface communications applications, and more. The AeroMACS 2015 - National Harbor Seminar will foster collaboration among key players in the aviation and wireless industries. If you are committed to the advancement of aviation wireless broadband, you won’t want to miss this opportunity. The program is designed to educate the aviation community, give participants an opportunity to meet, exchange ideas, and develop business and cooperative relationships.

Additionally, the seminar will highlight AeroMACS standardized equipment available from global manufacturers that conducted in September 2015 a series of stringent and extensive interoperability tests with base stations and subscriber stations in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) assigned 5.091 to 5.150 GHz frequency band. WiMAX Forum member companies Gemtek, Hitachi, Selex, Siemens, and Telrad participating in this first multi-vendor interoperability demonstration event signaled their commitment and endorsement to make cost-effective, interoperable AeroMACS equipment in support of the aviation industry.

“Hundreds of potential AeroMACS applications have been identified to support key operational domains needed for the exchange of data between aircraft, vehicles, and ground infrastructure. The ATCA Conference will provide an excellent opportunity to share experiences among stakeholders on how AeroMACS technology is achieving benefits for airports globally,” said Declan Byrne, President of the WiMAX Forum. “The WiMAX Forum is committed to Aviation industry modernization, and the first AeroMACS interoperability event was an important milestone as a first step to certifying products for interoperability and compliance. Improving safety and regularity of today's flights heavily depend on the rollout of Next Generation networks like AeroMACS and the ensured interoperability of these systems.”

WiMAX Forum President, Declan Byrne, will lead presentations and discussions to further advance the development of this wireless standard and requirements among all stakeholders. In addition to the seminar, the WiMAX Forum will be exhibiting AeroMACS at Booth #201 where member companies will be present and available to answer questions.
