Jack Frost Bazaar Celebrates 70 Years of Holiday Spirit

Local church member honors 70th Jack Frost Bazaar with Crystal Magic quilt being offered in the silent auction. The JFB features handmade and holiday items, home baked good, jewelry, books, a turkey luncheon and alternative market to name a few of the attractions. It has drawn folks from near and far for 70 years.

Niantic, CT, October 28, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Niantic Community Church will be rolling out the jolly red carpet this year as folks come from towns near and far to attend the 70th Annual Jack Frost Bazaar, on Saturday, November 14th from 9a.m.-2 p.m.. Held every year in early November, the festivities are thought of by many as the beginning of the holiday season. The church gets decked out from top to bottom with Christmas cheer and volunteers aplenty sport their best festive garb and happy welcoming faces.

This year in honor of the event, church member and East Lyme resident Jane Barth, has created the Crystal Magic Anniversary Quilt that will be offered in the silent auction. Created with blue and white batik fabric in a Lamoyne star design, it is made of 100 percent cotton and measures 62 inches square. Inspired by an image she saw in a catalog, Jane thought it would be a nice thing to do to help celebrate this significant anniversary in the life of the church. She has been a member of NCC for more than four decades and has been quilting since 1990. She is a member of the Clamshell Quilt Guild in Waterford.

“I just love doing it,” says Jane. “It’s an enjoyable hobby that I find peaceful and relaxing.”

Thanks to her generosity, this one of a kind quilt will go home with one lucky bidder in the silent auction that will offer loads of other interesting bidding options. Additional highlights of this year’s Jack Frost Bazaar include a traditional turkey luncheon served in the dining hall between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The cost is $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for a children’s meal with dine in and take out available.

There will be a huge selection of used books, new and used jewelry and fair trade items in the Alternative Market. The Cookie Cottage, Christmas decorations, Attic treasures, handmade items, antiques and vintage items and Mrs. Santa are just a few of the experiences folks enjoy each year.
