Discover Fast & Easy English Placement with Lexica English™
10-Minute Test Provides Immediate Results for Easy Placement Into English Programs
Portland, OR, October 29, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Diglossia USA, LLC has announced the release of Lexica English, a 10-minute English placement and vocabulary test designed to quickly place incoming students into English programs. The test can also be used as an ongoing measurement of vocabulary growth throughout the academic year. Lexica is based on an innovative and research-based model for quickly estimating general language proficiency, designed to inform initial placement decisions for native speakers of Arabic, Spanish and Chinese who are learning English as a foreign language. The test is web-based with a Yes/No test design that samples a vocabulary range covering the 10,000 most frequently occurring words in English.
"Our research uncovered a strong correlation between receptive vocabulary tests and general proficiency across all four skill levels, and found vocabulary recognition to be a strong predictor of academic English performance. We based Lexica on this model," said Mimi Jett, Diglossia CEO.
English placement assessments can be time-consuming, with many running 60-90 minutes, and requiring valuable teacher time to grade. Lexica takes less than ten minutes and provides immediate results, saving placement administrators considerable time. The test also has a bilingual interface - all instructions are in the test taker’s native language - making it easily accessible to beginning level English learners. The test’s adaptive design allows it to be used to measure ongoing vocabulary progress after initial placement. It can be taken on a laptop, mobile phone or tablet, and cut scores are customized to align with an institution’s English language course offerings.
