OT9 Design Creates Prospective Plan for Tropicana Field Site
Sean Williams, lead architect of OT9 Design in St. Petersburg, FL, has created some buzz-generating architectural plans for the 90-acre Tropicana Field site.
St. Petersburg, FL, October 29, 2015 --(PR.com)-- After nearly a decade of City Council disagreements of what to do with Tropicana Field, Sean Williams, lead architect of OT9 Design, took matters into his own hands. His design – Trop90 – is generating buzz and giving people ideas.
Williams created an unsolicited design for the 90-acre site for Tropicana Field that features a reimagined stadium along with commercial, retail, and residential spaces. The stadium rooftop is a wave of glass and metal, reminiscent of the Dali Museum, on which Sean worked at a previous firm. The Pinellas Trail is also incorporated in an interesting way to encourage visitors throughout the year.
“My goal was to simply start the conversation and look at the possibilities,” said Williams. “Through conversations with city officials and others throughout the city, we incorporated elements of a mixed-use space to bring new energy to the stadium and surrounding area, which is what the Trop needs.”
Mayor Rick Kriseman has shown interest in the project, citing it during some of his public presentations.
