Site visit
Delegates will also be able to visit the inspiring success story of the Gigawatt Utility-Scale PV Solar Plant, the first large-scale solar field in East Africa that is now providing approximately 6% of Rwanda’s generation capacity. The Rwanda solar field serves as a proof-of-concept and, hopefully, a catalyst to successfully develop and finance commercial-scale solar fields throughout sub-Saharan Africa and in the developing world. On February 14, 2014, developer Gigawatt Global Coöperatief, successfully closed on the $23.7 million financing of the 8.5 megawatt solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant with an international consortium of equity investors and debt providers.
STEG International Services (STEG-IS) are platinum sponsors again this year at iPAD Rwanda while KCB Bank and Spedag Interfreight joined as gold sponsors.
