Rosanne’s Rush for Research, Inc. Donates $10,000 to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute for Triple Negative Breast Cancer Research

Nashua, NH, November 01, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Rosanne’s Rush for Research is pleased to announce a donation in the amount of $10,000 to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA. In line with the mission of Rosanne’s Rush for Research to donate funds for the research and treatment of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC), the 2015 donation will be awarded to the lab of Dr. Jean Zhao, a cancer biologist whose research will benefit TNBC.

Rosanne’s Rush for Research is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity corporation formed in the memory of Rosanne Sullivan who passed away in October 2010 at the age of 48, after courageously battling TNBC for two and a half years. The organization was formed by her family who hopes to make a difference in her name to fight this horrible disease. Rosanne was a Nashua, NH resident of over 20 years and her strength and determination inspired everyone around her.

TNBC is a subtype of breast cancer accounting for approximately 15% of all breast cancer cases. Cells of TNBC lack three receptors normally found on breast cells: the estrogen, progesterone, and the human epidermal growth factor (HER2) receptors. TNBC is difficult to treat because it is unresponsive to the most effective breast cancer therapies that specifically target these receptors. TNBC can occur in women of all ages, but compared to the other subtypes of breast cancer there is a higher percentage of younger women diagnosed. Depending on the stage of diagnosis, TNBC can be particularly aggressive, and more likely to recur due to high rates of relapse and metastasis (spread to other tissues). Unfortunately there is currently no cure for metastatic TNBC.

Although many people have now associated the month of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Rosanne’s Rush for Research stands out among the larger breast cancer charities for important reasons. With no overhead expenses and no paid employees they can donate proceeds directly to research. This financial transparency allows us to maximize the impact of the funds donated throughout the year.

Rosanne’s Rush for Research raises money throughout the year by various events including an annual Rosanne’s Rush for Research 5K Run/Walk in the beautiful trails of Mine Falls Park in Nashua, NH held on the 4th Sunday in June. They have proudly donated $77,000 to date to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and with your help can expand their fundraising in the upcoming year.

Individuals and businesses are invited to make a tax-deductible donation. One hundred percent of the net proceeds raised will be donated to fund research for the treatment of TNBC. Checks may be made payable to "Rosanne’s Rush for Research" and mailed to the following address:
