Home Cyber Defense Wants to Educate the Public About Cyber Threats

Mike File is the owner and head of the House of File Technologies based in Dickinson, TX. The House of File Technology Lounge in Dickinson is a technology training center and also offers website and mobile application development.

Dickinson, TX, November 05, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Most computer and mobile device users understand how to run an antivirus scan, and know enough to keep passwords private, but very few truly understand the ins and outs of cyber security, such as keeping piggyback users off your Wi-Fi network, securing your email from phishing, or maintaining a positive personal profile online.

Mike File, a retired teacher, and owner of the House of File Technologies, has created a Home Cyber Defense program that includes a weekly newsletter; iTunes based Podcast, a self checkup program for consumers, and daily cyber alerts informing the public of current threats to their devices or personal information. All of this valuable information is free to anyone who subscribes to their program.

The anchor to the program is the "Home Cyber Defense Weekly," digital newsletter which discusses current cyber threats to the general population, such as Phishing, Ransomware, Identity Theft, how to deal with Data Breeches, protecting your children and yourself while using social media, and many other timely subjects. You can subscribe to this newsletter at the Home Cyber Defense site or by going to homecyberdefense.net. All subscribers to the newsletter will also have access to Home Cyber Defense’s Cyber Alerts page, which are designed to make the public aware of imminent cyber threats including the latest information on current data breeches.

“Our Home Cyber Defense website educates everyday consumers on their personal cyber security,” says the founder of Home Cyber Defense, Michael File. “Our website offers consumers a simple way of finding out how vulnerable they are to cyber crime through our weekly newsletter. Our newsletters will not only spread knowledge about cyber threats but also provide information about eliminating them if consumers are already exposed to them.”

Other integral parts of the Home Cyber Defense program include an iTunes hosted Podcast and the Home Cyber Defense Self-Checkup, that is designed to make sure your Wi-Fi, computers, and mobile devices are secure. Both of these aspects of the program are offered free at the Home Cyber Defense website.

Home Cyber Defense Weekly subscriptions will be offered for free throughout the month of November.
