Sweet Adelines International Names 2016 International Champion Quartet, Speed of Sound

Tulsa, OK, November 03, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Speed of Sound, a quartet from Region 14, Heart of The Blue Ridge, was crowned the title of International Champion Quartet at the Sweet Adelines International Convention and Competition in Las Vegas this past October.

Speed of Sound won their first regional contest in Spring of 2012 and have been working toward the International title ever since - Peggy Jones (bass), Debbie Landers (tenor), Carter Maysilles (baritone), and Ashley Wright (lead). The members of the quartet reside in North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida. They travel every three to four weeks for weekend rehearsals.

With an overall score of 2,822, the group secured the title with “Speed of Sound Vegas Opener,” “The Man I Can Love,” “Rhythm In My Nursery Rhymes,” “ABCs” and “Next Time I Love.”

Speed of Sound is committed to breaking the barbershop mold with cutting edge arrangements, produced by lead Ashley Wright’s father, Larry Wright. The quartet expressed their feelings about barbershop. “We wish to spread love for the art form of barbershop. It is important to all of us to play a part in keeping barbershop alive and well for the coming generations—it is all about the music!”
