Helper4U Wins Facebook’s Internet.org Innovation Challenge in India
Mumbai, India, November 07, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Facebook’s Internet.org announced on 20th Oct. 2015 that Helper4U.in has won its Innovation Challenge Award for India under the Migrants category. The challenge is an initiative by Facebook to recognize & support ventures using the internet for the benefit of migrants, women, students and farmers in India through development of apps, websites & online services.
“We are honoured to receive the award. It validates our thought process and will greatly help us in our quest of enabling the unskilled and semi-skilled Job Seekers to get better jobs,” said Mrs. Meenakshi Gupta Jain (Founder CEO – Helper4U) when asked about her reaction to the news.
Meenakshi conceptualized Helper4u.in after realizing just how difficult it was for unskilled or semi skilled workers to find job opportunities. She found maids in particular to be marginalized, especially because they have lesser access to networks where they can get job information. This in spite of the growing need for Helpers in this category in the domestic and small business segments. Helper4U.in serves a strong need on both sides - the demand (employers) and supply (employees).
Helper4u.in is an online listing of Helpers like maids, babysitters, cooks, housekeepers, patient care, security guards, delivery boys etc. Employers can browse through Helper profiles online or through Helper4U, in a mobile app. They can get the mobile numbers of these candidates in return for a small subscription fees. Employers can call and interview suitable candidates directly and hire whoever suits their requirements. This helps them hire better, faster and cost effectively.
The Helpers are registered on the platform after a telephonic interview on their registered mobiles, along with their Aadhar card details. This ensures that their identity and phone number is verified. Deeper verification can be done at an additional cost.
India’s unskilled workforce is estimated to be over 400 million strong, with millions more entering the working age group every year. With mobile and internet penetration rising leaps and bounds, a service like H4U can help millions of people across the country find respectable jobs.
The service is currently operational in Mumbai and Pune with plans to expand to other cities in the near future.
