Truly Asia: Medical Tourism Association® Honors Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council for Public-Private Partnership
Asia-Pacific Destination recognized at 2015 World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress, in Orlando, Fla.
Orlando, FL, November 07, 2015 --(PR.com)-- For ongoing efforts to provide seamless healthcare experiences to patients across the globe – some 790,000 a year ago -- the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council has been presented with the 2015 Public-Private Partnership Medical Travel Destination the Year Award, the Medical Tourism Association® announced today.
“In a world in which too many patients are seeking treatments from too few quality doctors, Malaysia has capitalized on strong economic growth to create a medical system that is not only top-notch, but competitively priced as well,” said Renée-Marie Stephano, president of the Medical Tourism Association®, at the 4th annual awards ceremony during the 8th World Medical Tourism and Global Healthcare Congress, 2015, in Orlando, Fla. “Couple those factors with reasonably priced hotel accommodations and an excellent public transportation system and it’s easy to see why Malaysia speaks volumes to patients who are contemplating treatment in the Asia-Pacific region.”
Since 2010, Malaysia has nearly doubled its revenue from medical tourism to US$200 million (about RM697 mil) last year, according to government figures.
“We have always striven to uphold our promise of ‘quality care for your peace of mind’ to our healthcare travelers, and we are ecstatic that the world has taken notice of this,” said Sherene Azli, Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council, the primary agency under the Ministry of Health Malaysia entrusted to develop and promote the healthcare travel industry of Malaysia. “This award has certainly inspired us to keep making our mark as a healthcare travel destination of choice.”
The World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress accepts nominations to honor leadership, innovation, education, service and top facilities and destinations in the care and treatment of both international- and domestic-traveling patients.
Stakeholders who make up the billion-dollar medical tourism industry are encouraged to forward news of tremendous performances that recognize customer-focused care, international quality and standards, patient safety and satisfaction, effective leadership and state-of-the-art technology within the calendar year 2015-2016.
