SGS Announces: The Bureau of Indian Standards Pushes Back Implementation Date for Electronics and IT Goods Registration Order
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) recently published a notice, announcing an extension to the implementation date of the Electronics and IT Goods Registration Order for several product categories.
Geneva, Switzerland, November 12, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Compulsory Registration Deadline for Electronics and IT Goods
On August 7, 2015, The Bureau of India Standards (BIS) published a notice regarding the extension of the implementation deadline for six product categories covered by the “Electronics and IT Goods Requirements for Compulsory Registration Order, 2012”, in the Gazette of India (1). The new deadline for the product categories covered is December 1, 2015.
The six product categories involved are part of the 15 new product categories added to the regulation in November 2014. Their compulsory registration requirements were supposed to come into effect mid-August 2015. As various industry stakeholders have sought more time to ensure smooth implementation of these requirements, and upon constructive discussions with the regulatory body, BIS has accepted the request to further postpone the implementation deadline. Therefore, the new implementation deadline has been set to December 1, 2015. The product categories covered by the extension are listed in Table 1 of the latest Safeguards bulletin. (R1)
