Matchstic Unveils Sixth “On The House” Brand Makeover, Benefiting WonderRoot
Atlanta, GA, November 11, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Matchstic, an Atlanta-based brand identity house, has unveiled the new brand strategy and visual identity for its sixth On The House campaign recipient: WonderRoot, an arts organization improving the cultural and social landscape of Atlanta through creative initiatives and community partnerships. Matchstic’s On The House campaign selects local nonprofit organizations to receive a brand makeover.
Matchstic’s award-winning brand identity services include an extensive brand audit, strategy development, and a redesign of the brand’s visual identity system, including logo, typeface, web design, print materials and signage, and brand messaging.
“One of Matchstic’s guiding principles is to give back to the city we love,” said Blake Howard, creative director and co-founder of Matchstic. “There are many nonprofit organizations in Atlanta making a difference in our city and community. We want to ignite their potential by helping them develop a strong brand so they can have a bigger impact. If we focus on what we do well, these nonprofits can focus on what they do best - making this city a better place where communities thrive.”
WonderRoot is Atlanta’s leading nonprofit organization for arts and community empowerment. The nonprofit offers public classes, family-friendly workshops and art exhibitions.
“WonderRoot is passionate about their purpose,” continued Howard. “Our role was to come alongside them and help bring to life their vision and cause, so that anyone who interacts with the organization knows who they are and for what they stand.”
Matchstic offered its services to WonderRoot as the organization faced a chapter of tremendous growth. WonderRoot’s latest development, The WonderRoot Center for Arts & Social Change, will house private studio space; a visual arts gallery; performance venue; educational spaces; and a series of production facilities for artists.
“At WonderRoot, we want to give back to the community that has done so much to inspire us,” said Chris Appleton, co-founder and executive director of WonderRoot. “With Matchstic’s partnership, we have uncovered a brand that positions us to reach Atlanta’s creative community and bring positive social change. Armed with this strong brand, we feel freshly positioned to ignite our purpose and vision to make Atlanta better.”
The On The House project began in May 2014 with a brand audit, including stakeholder interviews and qualitative research to uncover how WonderRoot’s brand was perceived by the community.
“As creatives ourselves, we are passionate about WonderRoot thriving in its mission to serve the Atlanta artist community,” said Danielle DePiper, writer-strategist and project lead at Matchstic. “Our brand audit revealed areas of opportunity where we could fine-tune and focus their brand in order to raise awareness about their services and grow their reach.”
Working closely with WonderRoot leadership, the team developed a comprehensive brand strategy and statements of purpose that emphasize the true essence of WonderRoot. The strategy effectively casts a vision for operations, communications and organizational growth.
With this strategy in place, Matchstic’s team created a personalized visual identity system to represent the new brand, including a custom typeface, colors, website and illustrations. The brand makeover included guidelines for the organization’s voice and tone for communications.
“We gave them an updated look that would resonate with artists,” said Mackenzie Brookshire, graphic designer at Matchstic. “We created a new font, “WonderType,” with letters in four different styles - each with unique personality. The custom typeface, graphic treatments, and limited color palette together create a uniquely ownable and consistent identity for the brand.”
Like WonderRoot, Matchstic is a leader in Atlanta’s creative community. Matchstic founded the city’s chapter of Creative Mornings, a worldwide monthly lecture series featuring accomplished local speakers. Creative Mornings provides education and inspiration for Atlanta’s artists.
Since 2008, Matchstic has completed On The House projects for City Church Eastside, Swift School, Atlanta Mission, Bearings Bike Shop, and Day League.
On The House combines the talents of several industry experts in Atlanta that join forces to give one deserving group a complete brand make-over. Top Atlanta vendors teamed up with Matchstic for the On The House project, including web development by Courtney Miller of floatleft.org and printing by Claxton Printing.
