Dover Downs Hotel & Casino to Host Sustain 2016 Conference
Dover, DE, November 20, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Hospitality leaders from throughout the mid-Atlantic will converge on Dover Downs Hotel & Casino March 14-15, 2016 for the annual Sustain 2016 conference, focusing on green strategies and marketing to the next generation of consumers.
As home to thousands of hotels and restaurants in major metropolitan areas and their surrounding suburbs, the mid-Atlantic hospitality industry produces thousands of tons of waste each year. Sustain 2016 is designed to gather new ideas for business leaders on recycling, energy saving, sustainability and company strategies moving forward.
“This conference engages multiple conversations with our peers to understand what we can do better,” said Ed Sutor, Dover Downs Hotel & Casino’s president and CEO and chair of Dover Downs’ Conference Working Group. “We want to work and learn with other key decision makers and directors in our area to understand what they’re doing right and how we can further our mission of being great stewards of the environment and community that supports us.”
Attendees will have three tracts of activities to choose from: Culture, Marketing and Sustainability. Each visitor can attend any of the workshops and other activities within any of the tracts. Topics will include introduction of new products, green training programs and advice on how to engage millennials – the key generation of consumers.
“These conferences are important for all stakeholders involved to understand how little changes can mean a lot for the environment, the hotel guest, and, ultimately, everyone’s bottom line,” said Dena Rose, CMP, CMM, the treasurer of the Green Marketing Industry Council’s mid-Atlantic chapter. “Hotel guests throw away approximately 2 ½ pounds of garbage for each night they stay at a property. Multiply that by 100 attendees and a weeklong conference and you can see where there’s a lot of low-hanging fruit to improve upon.”
