Robert Williams Wins TruckerToTrucker.com Trucking School Scholarship
TruckerToTrucker.com selected Robert Williams as the winner of the Fall Scholarship for Commercial Truck Driving School.
Culver, IN, November 20, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Robert Williams was selected as the winner of the $500 Commercial Driving School Scholarship from TruckerToTrucker.com. His scholarship award will go towards professional truck driver certification from Umpqua Community College.
Robert enjoyed a 29-year career as a firefighter, which started as a volunteer and progressed to a full Firefighter Paramedic. Now he is ready for a second career as a truck driver who works locally within his community.
“Robert has already given so much to his community as a firefighter and paramedic. We were excited to help make the transition into a new truck driving career easier for him and his family,” said TruckerToTrucker.com President Jim McCormack.
The Umpqua certification program requires 4 weeks of intensive training to prepare drivers for a new career as a professional driver. Umpqua’s program places a strong focus on time behind the wheel and making sure their students have a job offer ready upon course completion.
Recruiters from local and national trucking companies visit the UCC classes. Success students of the program commonly receive multiple job offers for their new driving skills. According to the American Trucking Association, the industry expects a need for 80,000 new drivers over the next 10 years.
“My dream job would be to go to the North Slope and work in Alaska, but right now I want to work locally driving a log truck or hauling fuel,” said Rob Williams when asked about his future plans.
