New Look for Maine Publisher
San Diego foreign language conference attendees will get a sneak peek at new changes happening at expanding world languages publisher Wayside Publishing.
San Diego, CA, November 21, 2015 --(PR.com)-- A Maine-based publisher with a focus on world languages will attend the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) conference, Nov. 20-22, in San Diego, California, and give attendees a sneak peek at its new vision and look.
Wayside Publishing in Freeport, Maine, is polishing off a rebranding campaign in the coming weeks that includes a new website, new logo and tagline, a new version of its online classroom interface, a new e-textbook platform, and more.
There will be a soft launch of the new branding at this year’s ACTFL conference, where Wayside will be set up at booth 1710, and many of its authors will be giving presentations.
Marketing Manager, Michelle Sherwood said the company’s focus on technology and modern, standards-based pedagogy needed to be reflected with its look, logo, and tagline. “Our books were way more modern and exciting than our website and logo,” Sherwood said.
Sherwood explained the meaning behind the company’s new tagline: Learn to Explore. “I want teachers to know that if they’re willing to explore and leave behind traditional language teaching methodologies, we can provide them everything they need,” Sherwood said. “No matter how many years you spend learning a new language or teaching a new language, it’s an adventure.”
The new website will feature an updated look and modern design. “We are working to make sure that the user experience is intuitive,” President Greg Greuel said.
“What I’m most excited about is that teachers will be able to find what they need easily and evaluate if we have the right program for them and their students,” Sherwood added.
The 27-year-old publishing company has issued more than 20 new titles/editions in the past five years, since Greuel took over operations from former owner David Greuel, his uncle.
Wayside Publishing’s newest series, EntreCulturas, a Spanish 1, 2, and 3 series that focuses on the emerging pedagogy of interculturality, will hit the classrooms fall 2016.
In the five years under Greuel’s leadership, the company has more than quadrupled in size. In advance of Wayside’s rebranding, the company changed locations from Yarmouth to Freeport, Maine in April to accommodate the company’s increase in staff.
The new features of the online Learning Site and website will add to the complete package Wayside provides to educators. “Teachers are very busy,” Greuel said. “Creating something that’s going to make teachers’ lives easier is what really matters.”
