IEEE GLOBECOM 2015 will commence Sunday, December 6 with the first of two days of workshops and tutorials detailing topics such as SmartGrid Resilience, Next Generation Energy Efficient Wireless Networks and 5G Fundamentals & System Design. The program will then proceed on Monday, December 7 with three full days of keynotes, panel discussions and symposia featuring the entire communications spectrum ranging from mobile cloud computing and green ICT to 5G cellular and vehicular networking. Among the many patrons and exhibitors supporting this year’s opening ceremonies and activities are Qualcomm, Keysight Technologies, Huawei, National Instruments, ViaSat, Intel, InterDigital, LG Electronics, IEEE Big Data, IEEE Standards Association, MediaTek, River Publishers, NSF, fuseami, MathWorks, EPO, IEEE Access, Nutaq, General Photonics, Taoglas, CWNP, Elsevier, Cambridge University Press, Wiley and Springer.

Sponsored by IEEE Young Professionals and IF&E Dialogue with Industry Leaders, Monday evening will also be highlighted by a two-part panel and interactive discussion titled “How to build a successful career in communications?” During the “IEEE Young Professionals: Advance Your Career to the Next Level” session, representatives of UCSD, AirHop Communications and Keysight Technologies will provide tips for building a truly global professional network, while successfully navigating different cultures. This will be followed by the “Dialogue with Industry Leaders on Keys to a Successful Career in Communications” and the opportunity to discuss trends and ask career path questions with Steve Hart, CTO and Co-Founder of ViaSat, and Ken Stewart, Fellow & Chief Wireless Technologist of Intel.

Another conference segment devoted to professional development will be the Virtual Career Fair @ IEEE GLOBECOM. From 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. PST, industry professionals seeking new career opportunities as well as students entering the global job market will have the opportunity to chat one-on-one either in-person or online with the representatives of the event’s corporate sponsors. This includes learning more about the career opportunities available at these leading technology organizations.

In addition, the conference will also feature an ongoing series of industry demonstrations showcasing the latest innovations and introductions of industry leaders such as Huawei, National Instruments, Toshiba, Nokia, Intel, Macerc and Technion. The many topics of discussion will include Dense Cooperative Wireless Cloud Networks, Smarter Networking Applications, Intelligent Electric Vehicle Charging Systems, Sub-Nyquist Systems and the Role of Biometric Systems in Improving Security & Performance in Big Data.

Other significant events to be held during the heart of the conference will entail the presentation of more than 900 original scientific papers as well as the keynotes of leading industry executives. For instance, Mark Dankberg, Co-Founder, CEO and Chairman of the Board of ViaSat, who will speak on “Connecting the Un-connected: The Role of Satellites for Internet Access” and Eric Starkloff, Executive Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing of National Instruments, who will address “Transforming Traditional Design Paradigms in 5G Wireless Communications.” Over the next few days these speakers will be joined by:

• Matt Grob, Executive Vice President, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Chief Technology Officer, who will talk about “From 4G to 5G: The Evolution of Mobile Communication”
• Ron Nersesian, President and CEO, Keysight, who will address “The Future of Test and Measurement for Commercial Communications”
