Marine Veteran’s Service Dog to Get a Hero’s Welcome Home
Puzzle Pieces Marketing teams up with the Vista Chamber of Commerce to give Marine Veteran Alexandra Melnick and her service dog, Kai the welcoming home Kai truly deserves.
Vista, CA, December 04, 2015 --(PR.com)-- After nine months of frantic searching, Melnick was finally reunited with her best friend, Kai in September 2015. Kai went missing from Melnick's home in Vista, California, the day after Thanksgiving in 2014. She began searching immediately, setting up Facebook page “Bring Kai Home” and GoFundMe page, printing and distributing flyers and talking to local media. In early September, members of “Team Kai” found a tip on social media, which led Melnick to Texas, where she found Kai at a private home. Kai was not in the best condition when he was found but he is doing much better now. The Vista community is grateful that Kai’s story had a happy ending and wants to officially welcome him home.
The Vista Chamber of Commerce is hosting its 2015 Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 5, at 1:00pm in downtown Vista. Puzzle Pieces Marketing is excited to announce that Alex and Kai will be participating in the parade as part of Taylion San Diego Academy’s float. Alex, Kai, and Taylion will be among over 80 parade entries that include marching bands, equestrian teams, Star Wars characters, team mascots, numerous community groups and Santa himself.
“Being a military veteran and dog lover myself, when Kai and Alex’s story was brought to my attention, I knew we needed to do something to celebrate Kai’s return and welcome Kai home with the honor we thought they both deserved,” said Angel Mason, President of Puzzle Pieces Marketing. “We were already working with our client, Taylion San Diego Academy on the Vista Christmas Parade and we thought this would be the perfect opportunity for the community to give Kai a warm welcome home.” After the parade, attendees can head over to the Cinépolis for photos with all the parade mascots, Star Wars characters, and more. Alex and Kai will also be available for questions and photos.
